Fear and Hormones

I realised after being up most of the night what profoundly affects my emotions. Hormones. It is what makes the world go around. As much as I hate being teary and vunerable, I love the other times when I feel full of life and invinceable. I think they call this pre-menapausal symptoms when you have the very big mood swings based on your hormones. The worst thing that can happen when feeling vunerable from hormones is getting in a fight with someone you love. Especially, when you are motivated by the fear of being unloved.(that's what the book said anyway) That very fear visits you in your darkest hour. It is an evil dark thing. To be in this pit that is part physical and part of who you are. That's when the white knight, the hero comes in. The only valiant, true rescuer of my soul. He says, "Do not fear". "I love you, not for who you are or what you can do for me." Then I am free of the trappings of this world and begin to fly above the clutter of this world. No, I am not just an animal. I am also not a highly evolved human with emotions and sins that trap me. I am a child of God, His beautiful bride, His delight.

Talk with the animals....

We are still WILD about the zoo!

We paid for another membership as we entered the zoo Friday. With just 4 of the kids it seemed like a "walk in the park". Oh, that it was! Cherone and I enjoyed the B-E-A-utiful day and lingered even until 5:30p(that's 1730) The trolley was nice too and we covered the entire zoo. There are new exhibits on the horizon such as, the northern (something) with grizzly bears! My mom should love that!

The girls

They keep growing up! Rebekah has been at Belhaven for almost a year now! She has done fabulous with a 4.0 gpa for the first semester as well as being a cross-country super star. I know that Belhaven has been a great college for her and she loves it alot. I am thankful that she has been able to attend. Moriah is a foot taller and very helpful to me. She has been loving working in the nursery and would love to start babysitting. Lindsey is looking forward to going to college herself in the fall and wishes her big sisters were still with her. Grace has hardly grown physically but is getting the confidence that age brings. She more readily lets people know when they have crossed the line, although she is still as sweet as ever. We hope that Jeannette and Justin move close to us soon.

A broken tooth and reading glasses

Well, amid the fevers and eye doctor exams, Stephen got his tooth chipped. By whom? What villain would do such a thing? A bully maybe? No, it was gentle Grace showing him (with vigor I guess) a very small metal bucket. I came home from the eye doctor, he said I have "old eyes" , to find Grace hiding next to her bed using some covers that were draped off of it. Moriah, her usual composed self, went on to explain what had happened and then reported, showing me the small piece, that she found and saved the piece right in the bucket that knocked it out. (I couldn't see it of course, because she was holding it so close)Well, I got an appointment the next day and the dentist put it back in with a little filler. It looks good as new.( If I am seeing correctly) Stephen was a little worried over the look of it, not how it hurt when he drank water or ate. I told him that "now he would look even more like Daddy" because Daddy had a filling in his front tooth too! He felt much better.

Lindsey livin' large

Yes, Lindsey is soon to join the "full time student" ranks. Her best girlfriend Kathy and she will be sharing an apartment style dorm this fall. She will finally have more time for reading.(I think) That is what she hopes and dreams of. Little miss math and science smarty!

Gracie Pooh

Here is a little sunshine every day! She loves her long hair even when it gets tangled in the snow. Always ready to play a game or sing a song, agreeable Grace is there. I am so thankful that God put her in my life, and hope that I can bless her just a fraction of how she is a blessing to me on a daily basis.
